Good Food is Good News

Run in partnership between Rose Hill Methodist Church and St. Mary the Virgin Iffley

Community Cupboard is now open for families and individuals to come and collect food at pre-allocated time slots. If you need a time slot, please contact Libby (07874 339996 or libby dot hawkness-smith at oxfordmethodists dot org dot uk). Please make sure you bring a mask and bags to collect food when you come.

If you are unable to make a session in a particular week, please contact Libby and we can help you to make alternative arrangements.

Please note that only one member of each family will be allowed into the church each week, and that our cafe remains closed.

We are following a phased reopening of Community Cupboard, asking Friends who have been with us before lockdown, or who live closer to our centre to return first. If you’re currently receiving food from us, your caller will be in touch with details. If you’re new to Community Cupboard, need additional help, or have difficulties, please contact Libby, our Community Chaplain, for more info at 07874 339996 or libby dot hawkness-smith at oxfordmethodists dot org dot uk.

We are grateful for the support of Salvation Army Oxford, Oxford Food Hub, The Porch, and the many organisations and individuals who support us on a regular basis.

Outside of lockdown, we run a food bank and cafe at Rose Hill Methodist Church on Wednesdays from 1.30pm-3.30pm. Anyone can pop in and have some toast, biscuits, share in conversation and get information about local services and groups that run in the area. There is also food available to take away for those who need it, based on a referral system that any of our volunteers on duty will be able to explain. For a list of organisations that can issue referral cards, see here. Most of our the food we have available to take away comes from Oxford Food Hub and The Porch. We also supplement from our own stocks.
