The Halloween Graveyard Scavenger Hunt Libby and I held was a great success. St Mary’s joined with Rose Hill Methodist Church, inviting local families to enjoy activities in St Mary’s graveyard on 31st October. More than twenty family groups pre-booked and a few passers-by were also able to join in the fun – over 100 people took part in one way or another. We had plenty of space for social distancing and the opportunity to be active outside in the sunshine with other families was all the more valuable after a dark, wet morning and with the shadow of lockdown looming.
Children ran around spotting objects from their quiz sheets and exploring different areas of the graveyards. Hot chocolate was served and a few determined individuals managed to melt marshmallows on the comforting fire. Children went home with glow sticks and a paper candle to remind them of the message of Light – something for families to hold onto in the coming months.
